Rita Berkowitz has been at the heart of Apothecorner since day one, 

not only as a featured artist but as a beloved family presence. 

Rita has known four generations of Keithe’s family, and that sense of lineage, care, and continuity is something we feel deeply honored to share within our space.

Trained as a fine artist, Rita received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn and studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Her work has been exhibited throughout New York and New England, and her artistic career spans decades of evolution, from large-scale figurative work to the intimate landscapes for which she became known after moving to Scituate, Massachusetts. 

Inspired by nature, light, and quiet moments, her artwork invites stillness, reflection, and connection. Much of the art displayed throughout Apothecorner is Rita’s, and all pieces are available for purchase.

Rita’s creative path is deeply intertwined with her spiritual calling. She is an ordained minister in the Spiritualist Church, a certified medium, spiritual counselor, and spirit artist known internationally for creating spirit portraits; drawings of loved ones from the higher side of life. 

She is the author of Empowering Your Life with Angels and co-author of The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Communicating with Spirits. Rita has lectured, demonstrated, and taught throughout the United States, Canada, and abroad, including at the Arthur Findlay College in England.

With a Master of Science in Psychological Counseling, Rita’s work is grounded in compassion, integrity, and emotional depth. She has taught art, color theory, and illustration at several colleges and museums, and has also trained many professional mediums through her spiritual teaching and mentorship.

To us, Rita’s presence is more than artwork on the walls; it’s energy, history, and heart. Her art helps shape the feeling of Apothecorner: peaceful, intentional, and deeply human. We are honored to feature her work and to share her gifts with our community.
